Fishing at McNary Dam

We went out fishing on Thursday. The water is cranking with all the spring run off. We anchored up on the edge in about 15-12 feet of water. We hooked most of the fish on the shoreline side. The fish don't want to fight all the swift water so they are cruising up the edges. We did best on the fickle pickle in various sizes but the 13's did the best for sure. We caught 2 wild adults, 2 hatchery jacks, 1- 10# catfish a big sucker and had one other adult on that we lost and had 4 other big take downs with line tearing off, but came off before you get to the rod. The numbers are just starting to come over Bonneville. Things should really pick up in the next week. The Shad will be showing up as well.

Springer fishin on the Snake

Well the Springer fishin was fast and furious while it lasted. We went 4 times limiting out 3 of the 4 times. The fish were nice and bright. The water was very swift we anchored up in our usual holes and went to work. We looked like geniuses on 3 of the 4 days. We picked them up on the usuals with a few surprises and few new combinations. Always using the secret sauce. I'll try to get some pictures up. They closed the river within a week of the fish showing up. It was fun while it lasted.

Last 2 weeks of fishing

Jim Gilbert with his limit.
Well the fishing has been really good. I can't remember all of the trips I've been on the past 2 weeks my camera on the boat only holds a few pictures at a time,  but they've been good.  I think I have boated over 35 salmon the past 2 weeks. We have continued to catch them at Ringold, they aren't huge but they put up a great fight and have great meat. It has been fun to take several friends and family members out. We have been catching them on Kwickies and eggs. The fish are still coming so the fishing should continue to be excellent for the weeks ahead.

Fall Chinook have arrived

Fishing at Ringold

Well this post goes with the pictures above. Yesterday I was at the orchard with Cameron and we decided to hit the river for a couple of hours. We went to try for some steelhead seeings how they opened it a month early. We hit 2 holes with no success at about 2 we decided to try for some salmon so I put on a couple of 13's "fickle pickle and slammer". Within 10 minutes we had our first fish to the boat. We went back up and within another 10 we had our second. Cameron didn't have his catch card so we were tagged out on mine. I called Garrett and he brought Natalie and Morgan. We hit 3 more fish very quickly. Then Noland and Brady came to catch a few fish. We caught each of them a fish within the next 20 minutes. At about 5 the river started to rise and the fish stopped biting. So we picked up 7 fish in 3 hours. The size was between 10 and 35 pounds.
We didn't see any other fish caught amongst the other fisherman they all kinda watched with disgust. It's great to be on your A game. Gotta love those days for sure. This is gonna be a great fall for fishing.

Hadley's 17# fish

Today we went out as a family again to try and get a fish for Seila and Hadley. We fished from 6-9 and never had a king on. We caught 3 little jacks but no kings. We decided to call it a day so we started to bring in the poles one at a time. As I was pulling the last rod off the downrigger this fish hit. Hadley fought this hen without even pulling anchor. She did a great job. We weighed it at 17#. We caught it on a helmet. We tried lots of super baits today with no luck. Tomorrow morning it's Vard, Brandon and sons.
